Teachers, you’ve have worked long and hard this school year (and every year) to share knowledgeable information with your students. After months of helping students master different concepts and ideas, now, most of you need to test and assess. What better way to do that than flipping the script and having your students become teachers?
I know what you’re thinking: “There is no way my students would get in front of the whole class and present a topic.” I agree, it sounds intimidating. But students won’t get nervous if you pair them with a peer or a small group. In fact, it’ll be even more exciting if you let students pick their lesson from a pre-set list of topics.
Write down a list of key themes or units from the year and poll students to determine their top 3 choices. From that list, pair students together who chose the same topic. As to how students present the topics, that is up to you. You could make each presentation around 10 minutes with 5 minutes Q&A time at the end. Encourage students to make it interactive, create handouts, or have the audience try a game to learn the content.
This is a fun way to get all students involved in the learning process and will help them review everything they’ve learned this school year. Please share your ideas to improve and any of your EOY lesson plans below!
