Take a mental break and give your students the option to create their own lesson. This fun activity will give students the time to reflect on all that they’ve learned throughout the year.
Put together a list of a few different coordinates in a country that you taught students about this year. Provide students with a pair of coordinates and ask them to search where these coordinates are located. Education World shared how one teacher came up with an idea that brings together many cultural topics:
[Students] need to describe the climate, geography, shelters, clothing, food, economy, traditions, values, and so on of their imaginary cultures. They need to consider a multitude of variables that draw on the work we’ve done during the year. During the last two days of class, the students demonstrate their cultures.
To complete the task, ask students to use their phones (they would love that!) or reserve the computer lab for the day.
