Encourage your students to get more out of reading with Literature Circles! The Circles are small groups of students that work together to engage in critical thinking and think deeper about a piece of literature.
Collaborating in Literature Circles shows students “authentic reasons to communicate, provides a supportive learning environment and breaks down the tasks that students must do in order to practice and become proficient at reading skills.” Incorporating them into your English and/or World Language class schedule is easy.
After a reading, have students gather in small groups and discuss what they learned. Assign roles to each member of the group and watch as they bounce thought-provoking ideas off one another.
