Many children in the U.S. celebrate Christmas, but others might observe Hanukah or Kwanzaa. There are even more holiday traditions around the world that students may not be aware of. Spread cheer this season by researching what other cultures celebrate this time of year.

Have students choose from a pre-selected group of countries around the world and guide them through a holiday-themed research project of your choice. We suggest having students research a holiday in said country on their own then have them meet with other students in the class who chose the same country. Students can compare notes with those in the same group and share their findings with the rest of the class in a hassle-free, informal presentation.

This activity is sure to bring students together this winter!

Note: some schools have holiday policies, so check that this activity is class-friendly before asking students to participate.
